Thanks for the link. I had a few of the Studio One comps already but most of those were new to me.

I normally opted for the Trojan comps because you got more bang for your buck - three CDs instead of one for just a few bucks more.

Haven't had a chance to digest most of these yet but I really dig the Roots one quite a bit so far.

Hard to resists those little Trojan boxes, really great value(the Upsetter one is a really nice set). For what it's worth the Soul Jazz stuff has far superior sound to my ears. They seem to capture the presence and crackle of that stuff, where as those Trojan comps often sound a little muted to me.

I'd have to revist the Trojan comps with a more critical ear but my gut says you're right about the sound. Still, I have about 25-30 of those Trojan comps. Their DJ comp is probably the best I've heard as far as DJ comps go.

The king of reggae re-releaes/comps is Blood and Fire, IMO. They got those old records sounding amazing. I think they've gone under but in their prime they were the best...and spawned many an imitator.

Hell yes to Blood & Fire, those bargain Heavyweight comps were the things that took me past Marley(no disrespect to Bob) and made me a big Reggae fan.

whoa, that guy started posting Blood & Fire comps!

Sweet. I know I have all of those - some in both vinyl and CD. That is one of the few labels that I own their complete discography - minus one or two special promos that sell for big $$$ now.

Out of the ones the guy posted I would highly recommend the Heart of the Congos if you don't have that already.

And the Yabba You - Jesus Dread comp has some heavy heavy business on it. One of my favorite releases from B&F.

Yeah that Congos is fantastic, if anyone else is reading you need that!
