I listened to this once the other day, but I wasn't sure how to approach it. It seemed like a disparate collection of tracks played in sequence, separated by fermatas. I don't know if that's because I got a bum DL or what. I hadn't sought out more info on it or anything since, but it's definitely in a more freeform vein than their last few releases. For my money, though, I think their best release of the last few years was their collaboration with Bonnie "Prince" Billy.
I'm only on the first track of this Tortoise album, wow, pretty far out. did EJ or I post about how we saw them a few weeks ago? they were awesome, of course, and had a super enthusiastic crowd, but I wasn't the only one that was really turned off by how they made everyone wait over a half hour or longer after everything was set up for them, rockstar bull-shit. and John McEntire looked like preening egomaniac, but he's a killer musician.
anyway, thanks for the heads up on this and that blog is cool, a couple of tracks from the new Panda Bear up there, I guess that's what that is, sound awesome.
