I had a lovely headphone session with this classic. Fuck all the haters.

First time listening to it on vinyl, having just picked it up via Discogs a few weeks ago. The vinyl and cover/back are mint but a cat scratched up the spine - still a nice buy for $5.

Say what you will about the Dead but this is a decent album that is well produced. The title track is really the biggest disappointment for me - pretty cheesy. The rest of it has held up pretty well especially the Help on the Way ->Slikpknot! - > Franklin's Tower to open the album. I kept expecting the vocal flubs during Franklin's, common in so many live versions, and was happy they weren't there.

edit: - whoa to the new look of the blog!

I used to hate on the Dead big-time when I was in college, but now I can handle them. I still say their kind of boring, and I'm not a fan at all of Jerry's guitar sound, but when I hear them I get nostalgic for smoky dorm rooms and bygone days. I still hate Phish though.

Yeah, what up with the new blog look? I need a magnifying glass to read it now.

For being a semi-hater I'm kind of OK With Blues for Allah. I enjoy them more and more as the years pass and my punk rock youth is put in perspective.

I've been on a bit of a Dead kick lately. I got One From The Vault and Two From The Vault and that first solo Garcia joint all on cassette at a Garage Sale for $.25 a pop, so i've been bumping that in my car. Fuck the haters.

I like One From The Vault 100% more than Blues for Allah, though.

Honestly, I think my biggest issue with the Dead is my intolerance of bootlegs. Even live albums actually, if I wasn't there I do not care. I LIKE production, and whatever magic people claim to witness at their shows I've never gotten from the bootlegs I've heard. I like the studio stuff just fine, but it always makes me feel like I'm missing something.
