Madlib Hotel Studio

Came across this picture again recently. Have i posted this before?

This is the rig Madlib used to create some of the tracks for Madvillain... Fisher Price turntable, an SP 303, and mixed it live to a clock radio tape player in a Brazilian hotel.



I love that. Keep your $20,000 mixing board and pro-tools rig.

As I recall, Madlib was pulling some of the same smart use of simplicity and available technology as he mumbled his way through this Redbull Music Academy video. I'm going to rewatch this now and be wrong.

I think this is actually while he was in Brazil using this setup...

Yeah, is that the one where they say the first Quasimoto is by far best selling LP on Stones Throw, and Madlib says he did the whole thing with a stack of records, an SP-1200, a 4-track, and a bag of 'shrooms? hahaha, love that.
