I love that too and know that a-ha moment well. The past few years I've been buying up lots of old funk/soul/disco vinyl and have come across so many samples. From samples used in classic hip-hop songs to samples in obscure house records.
One of the oddest a-ha moments didn't involve a sample source but the fact that two people sampled the same thing - Bell Biv Devoe and My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult sample the same track...don't know the name of the sample source but I about fell out of my chair when I heard it.

That was cool. Is that guy the crazy Doctor guy who rode in the ambulance in Cannonball Run?
