I've tried and tried myself, same result. Sometimes patience can pay off (I hated the Bon Iver stuff initially, but now like it a lot). But I don't think it's going to happen with these people.
I like that CD a lot. I hated at first but it really grew on me. The drums and guitar are so weird but it works. That dudes voice kind of bugs me but i'm ok with it. Stillness is the move is the jam, you cannot deny the power of that song.
original and different ≠ good music. plus, the sounds they got on the recording are just bad. the guitars sound like shit, the drums sound worse. i don't mean in a beautiful "guided by voices" way either, more in an over-produced way that will date the album and sound totally irrelevant in about a year.

it's good in a shuffle. I think if I played it straight through it would bug me after awhile.
I love that album, totally original and different, but if you don't like it, then you don't like it, no sense in trying too hard.
