LTJ Bukem: Journey Inwards

This is a 2 disc set from 2000 with 14 tracks. The tracks here are a fusion of drum and bass, downtempo chill out, jazz, Rhodes keys, ambient passages. I read someone label this as, "adult contempoary jungle"? The leadoff track "Journey Inwards" is a mix of breakbeat with jazz elements. Go to about 4 minutes in and groove on the bass! Disc 2 has tracks that go in more of a traditional mid tempo dnb vibe. Check out the track Suspended Space.

That's a great set, for some reason my kids always groove on that Inner Guidance track.

This takes me back to when I was living in Prague at that time, this was one of the first electronica/drum & base things I came across that was cool and not totally vapid and clubby. LTJ Buken is pretty cool, and this makes me think of hot, sweaty Czech girls relaxing in the chill-out room in some schlocky Eastern European club. I think LTJ Bukem has something called "Earth" that is also pretty cool, I'm going to check all that out again, thanks for the post.

The Earth series were other faves from that era, # 5 I think was cool. He also did a Logical Progression series which was more straight up drums & bass and probably hasn't aged too well.

But really, any music that makes you think of hot, sweaty Czech girls is the one you want to hear, often....

Pretty good, but i call shit like this "Banana Republic" music because it is the kind of stuff that is playing when i need to go buy a pair of slacks for work. Air, Kruder and Dorfmeiser, etc... all that stuff is good but a little too cooled out for me. Good background music.
