Sometimes there is a pop band that actually deserves the hype. These guys fucking rock, and Aha Shake Heartbreak is a killer album. I don't care if they sell out stadiums and are big with the brit-pop magazines or whatever, I was just listening to "Pistol of Fire" and it reminds me of the best of Firehose. I've been trying to get DC hip to this for ages and he refuses to check them out, I think that he is afraid he will actually like it.

I am 100% with you. I've dug them since they were the hillbilly Strokes, I even remember thinking that someone trying to be the hillbilly Strokes was a cool idea. I never quite warmed up to the last album. I actually think the 3rd one is my favorite, despite the arena production and that stupid Pixies rip off song. They should've kept the beards though....
They definitely have some good tracks. They've yet to amaze me over an entire album, though.
(WARNING: This next part may ruin them for some of you. I think it's funny as shit.)
Doesn't dude sound like Randy Newman? Yeah. Listen again. You know it's true.
Hmm, I don't know about Randy Newman, but I think he sounds like Eddie Money (in a good way!) on "Sex on Fire".
You can sound like Eddie Money in a good way?
can't decide if I'd rather hear KOL cover "Have you Seen my Baby?" by Randy Newman or "Shakin" by Eddie Money. Kind of leaning towards Shakin.......
TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE BITCHES
i love how on this blog (which i think should be either renamed to "what i am listening to is more obscure than what you are listening to" or "here's where to pilfer music"), you have to lay down an apology, disclaimer and explanation for liking music that is popular.
i love these guys too. they rock. i did not listen to them before they got big. i knew about them last.
Never mind the grumpy from Varnish Studio, do you notice how when DC is on vacation there are no Big Steve comments? Don't you think Big Steve should/would have his 2 cents here?
I see KOL all over the place now. I will check it out. There is some music snobbery posted on this blog, but I like it and expected it. Music battle #1: Eddie Money vs. Kings of Leon. Classic rock, Turkish Folk, Prog, Blues, Jazz it's all just music. Donde esta la musica Latina? Viva Los Tigres del Norte!
"i knew about them last."
that is awesome.
as an aside, this thread reminds me of the video for shakin. eddy money has a very animated face. he's a good actor.
